Graveyard Poem by Obed dela Cruz

Graveyard

O dead soul! ‘Til when shall you let your dreams slumber?
‘Til when shall you store your treasures in the hidden?
Seasons have passed yet you remained in the winter
And have always kept spring and summer forbidden.

Awake! Rise up from the graveyard on which you lie!
By this time your tombstone should be smashed to pieces
Because your false comfort in this cursed place should die
So that you may live again without this darkness!

Never lose hope though you have been cursed by the soil!
The dawn of life’s new day is now coming closer
And it shall terminate your dark endless toil!
The long wait for the light shall soon stop forever!

No more crying, no more waiting as you arise,
Run and leave no trace from this graveyard of demise!
