Hair Brush Days Poem by Annette Aitken

Hair Brush Days

Hair Brush Days

Do you remember your
hair brush days
just singing in the mirror
day after day
reflections showing
some famous celebrities
joining right in
singing back at you.
For every note, they'd hit just right.
from the lowest to the highest height
from Loe Swayer to
Tina Charles
the note's they'd hit
would curl your hair.
fromQueens bohemian
belching out, and
Kate Bush, heath Cliff
let's leave that one out (far to high)

Yet there we are with brush in hand
in front of the mirror as we stand
A most accomplished singer around.

A really lively piece and very enjoyable. With my voice I wouldn't have dared. My parents would prob have called Pest Removal! Like your taste in music. Some of my favourites there!

Really nice poem, an ode to the impetuosity of youth.

Annette, I recall my sister standing in the mirror imaging she was Sade or Madonna. I wonder if these two singers also did the same. Your poem encapsulates a moment of many moments experianced by many girls and witnessed by their brothers. A Beautiful poem.
