Half A Life(Chocolate Girl) Poem by Bill Smith

Half A Life(Chocolate Girl)

Half a Life (chocolate girl) .

After the rains fell summers warm
Grey drifted into view
Grasped strangle tight in clenched fist
A heart pumped royal blue
Kaliedescope eyes through colours blurred
A child's toy turned to rust
Destroyed by word and selfish deed
Ravaged by love's lust
constituent parts in disarray
Time glued outside to whole
A missing piece, a vacant space
That Life crept by and stole

hole in cap where thoughts escaped
Dreams shared with pillows soft
Into the ether free to roam
That piece of me I lost
O'er hill and dale, from bar to bar
Through haze and clear blue skies
Falling for each welcome smile
With self deceiving lies
Hope circling doom the eddy's drop
The bottomless abyss
Blind arrows fired with aimless will
Guaranteed to miss

Quiver empty fate decreed
Half a life to spare
a miracle barely believed
Came the girl with chocolate hair
Acorns buried somewhere deep
calling for the light
A clear blue sea a single thought
Maybe she just might
A question asked an answer right
One foot forward sure
A penny wished upon a well
The promise of a cure

Hazel eyes a warm heart
A hand offered to hold
A haven in the winter's night
A treasure more than gold
Hesitant steps into the rays
Unfolding angel's wings
A golden gift hidden delight
Somewhere the lady sings
Held in her eyes soft in her touch
Let loose upon her lips
The missing piece of me
From her heart gently slips

Without warning man made whole
A smile plays on a face
The piece of me history stole
Takes its rightful place
My beautiful chocolate girl
The one who set me free
Filled my life with wondrous love
And stole the whole of me
