Hand In Hand

Poem by Kristin Salley

Hand in hand we waltz along
To the peaceful sound of a familiar song
Your eyes meet mine in a piercing gaze
'I want to trust you' they seem to say

I see the hurt of love gone bad
Knowing you can't trust, makes me mad
What can I do to heal your pain
A kiss, a tender touch, a walk in calmning rain

You gave someone your heart
And she threw it away
I hate you, it's over,
She seemed to say

My heart is open
I want you near
Beyond the dance floor
For the next thousand years
