Happiness is that state of mind
when all sad thoughts are left behind
and you are in a state of bliss
surrounded by life you would not miss

The sound of laughter in the air
drowns out the feelings of despair
like healing sunshine after rain
it brings you warmth and light again

There is a place within your heart
where love and peace reside, in part
where you can open up and feel
the happiness your world reveals

The kindness of a stranger's deed
or helping someone else in need
the sights and sounds of each new day
bring happiness within its sway

Then life takes on a different hue
sweet pleasure found in all you do
contentment flows through every pore
and you feel safe, secure once more.
