Harjayee Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Harjayee

Harjayee

Every tongue, dialogue
Surely has great words
In meaning, position…

Harjayee…in Farsi
Entangles and ties me
To trunk of thinking!

"Har" means "Each"
Could be "All."

"Ja, " "Place, " "Location"

"Ee, " is for relation,
Or action…

I can see,
Both or each,
My mind, heart
Being a "Harjayee! "

They cannot be tied up,
Or hammered to pin down,
To settle; they take off, and fly.

Wonder what I must do
With the two butterflies…

They land, sit, for a while
Then after, carry on…

Years ago, when younger
In California, was student,
Went, skied in a valley
Its name was: "Squaw! "

Knew not the meaning
As has been, always is,
With people, plenty,
I, too, acted the same
Simply, turned parrot!

Now, I know the meaning
Thanks to those "Harjayees."

Feel sorry and love it,
"It is abused…"

Want the name removed or
Explained…rightly used…

Love to write lyrics of
A romantic love song
A top-ten: "Squaw."

In it feel the scent of,
Fresh dew of the dawn,
Comforting sound of wife
And mother, daughter, aunts.

Squaw,
Squaw,
Squaw.

When I jump from book
To papers, other books,
To friends, amigos,
In shanties, apartments,
Or in tents or reserves,
Log houses or chalets,
Love being butterfly.

Do not like the borders,
The fences, the cages,
Any kind of wall, jail.

Love you my heart and mind
Please remain butterflies…

Want you to be, become
Greatest "Harjayees"
Scarlet with colours
Of cultures and friends,
But not a prostitute for silver.
