Heard A Song Poem by Randy McClave

Heard A Song

I want my black and brown friends to always know this
I'm not a bigot or a racist,
I grew up and I live in a very small town
Where racism and bigotry still makes me frown.
I've seen the video and I heard the song
Every angle that I looked at it I know that it's all wrong,
I was raised and I live in a small town, the singer was not
He doesn't know for what we have fought.
For that song no singer or person will ever see my support
Never would I ever give them that comfort,
But, you know who does
Those hidden racists and bigots who live in a small town with us.
My black and brown friends will see my posts as well
So, do the racists and the bigots as time does tell,
And if we don't stand and fight against racism with anger with a fit
One day because of us, our children and grandchildren will support it.
These racists are the same people who once made a plea
To hurt a black man for taking a knee,
In the video I saw the hate and the evil and a hanging
And I also saw the guns banging.
All the police officers in the video were all white
Against crime and criminals they stood to protect and fight,
Also in the video criminals wore face-masks and gloves that were all black
With evil and hate they were to murder, rob and attack.
The song is undoubtedly a hit for white supremacists and the KKK
They most likely will listen to it everyday,
The song supports their belief and also their lifestyle
The song is their singalong which they dance to wearing a smile.
So, this one fact I want everyone to know
Seeds of racism or of bigotry I will never ever sow,
I know how to look and then read between the lines
Sadly the video and the song that I watched and heard have racist signs.
Jason Aldean is never going to see anyone's support post
Whether on Facebook, Twitter or on any online media social host,
But, you know who will see and read your racist amends
It will be all your black and brown friends.
