Heat Wave Poem by louis rams

Heat Wave

It was a light clear blue sky as the snow capped clouds
Were floating by
An Egret with it s wings spread wide on the air
Currents way up high.
The blazing sun scorching the ground and no river beds to be found.
All the creatures dying of heat - the ground so hot it burns their feet.
Even the sea creatures have gone down deep- to avoid thescorching heat.
Air conditioners going full blast- how much longer will it last?
People seeking shelter in air conditioned malls
Hoping that the temperature will begin to fall.
Triple digit temperatures all around and no relief to be found.
Every one is praying for rain and the weather man says it's all in vain.
Then from the east dark clouds appear wiping away many fears.
A storm is brewing over the ocean, in response to people s devotion.
Prayers are being answered for every one and soon there'll be relief
From the scorching sun.

A very descriptive poem, Louis. Soon, there will be relief from the scorching sun- - Unless it's a hurricane brewing over the ocean. In which case, it's out of the frying pan, and into the fire! (Enjoyed your poem!) : -)
