hello dad, dad? Sorry to call you so late,
It's morning here. Where am I?
All I can tell you dad is that we are,
In Al Anbar privince Iraq.
Our father which art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Dad I thought I would call you and set you at ease,
I know you watch Fox news religiously.
The chopper that was shot down fell in the reservoir,
here on the base, the pilot tried his best to land it,
But it was too badly hit, there were no survivors.
Thy kingdom come thy will be done,
On Earth as it is in heaven..
We were all diving into the water,
Trying to save as many as we could.
I managed to pull out two grunts with help,
But they were all dead.....
Dad I am so scared.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those that trepass against us....
master sergent pulled us together,
Cause he saw how scared we all were,
And just talked to us.
I am so proud of all these guys dad..
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.....
Dad can you please pray for my guys,
The second batallion fourth marines?
All of them dad, they are all heros..
For thine is the kingdom the power,
And the glory, forever and ever....
Si mijito, I will pray for you and your guys,
And for the politicians that. sent you there...
And for all left behind to suffer in silence,
And await the return of their loved ones..
Actually mijito I was praying already,
As I was talking to you.
Dad? Are you still there, dad? you are breaking up,
Ok Dad I hear you, listen dad, I have to go now,
Somebody else has to use the phone,
I will call you again as soon as I can,
I... I love you dad, tell mom I love her,
And to keep all my guys in her prayers.
Bye dad,
Good bye mijito I love you, hail mary full of grace.....
The lord is with thee....
No offence here Juan, this is a truly wonderful and inspired piece of writing. Very moving, and brings home the iniquity of mans inhumanity to man.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
Not one bit of offence to me; in fact I'd say I too will pray for them. Great poem Juan.
