Hidden Ambition Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Hidden Ambition

Who has not gone,
Out of their way...
And beyond lengths defending,
An opinion with kept belief...
In the face of opposition,
That a belief they will keep.
Even if proven wrong.
By those holding onto,
Kept pretensions!

Stronger becomes the defiance.
And the huff to puff it up,
Has them rushing away.
To return dressed,
From head to toe.
In a clown outfit.
Done to declare,
Claim and admit...
Being a clown,
Had been a hidden ambition!

'There is no winning,
An argument with you.
Is it? '

-Who called 'who',
A fool and a clown?
Look around.
I know who I am!
How about you?
What are you attempting to win.
With a doing of it to convince!
Me?
Too long I have been aware,
Of a circus you deny.
To lie and pretend yet live,
It to be more than it is!
Like I said...
I know who I am!
How about you? -
