Honey Are You There. Poem by Geoffrey Fafard

Honey Are You There.

Rating: 5.0

"She left me for no one"
He told me over a beer
"Then she died on her own"
This conversation has never left me
The thought has haunted me
Ever since that story was told
"What did she die from" I asked
"Heart break and loneliness" he said

I returned to my house shaken
Put the key in the door
Yelling "Honey are you there"
Whilst fully realising
That I live alone
There was a lingering perfume
In the air and a sad song
Wafted in from down the alley
I did the only thing a (an in)sane man would
I reached for the whiskey
That I had hidden from myself.
