How Can It Be Poem by Jayne Louise Davies

How Can It Be

Grief engulfs in endless waves of sadness.
It's scathing presence pulling me to madness.
How can it be that you're no longer here?
I can't forget you,
Life is what I fear.
Pretending that I'm fine but I am not.
I search for you in crowds,
Are you just lost?
To something I must face I know it's true.
We live, we die
I can't get over you.
Please rid me of this love that's killing me.
Can't shake the loss of you,
I cannot see.
A future without you,
so endlessly.
I want you back,
but know that cannot be.
