How Can Something So Perfect Be So Wrong? Poem by D.N. Rebb

How Can Something So Perfect Be So Wrong?

Rating: 5.0

Pleased to meet your acquaintance, have you been waiting here long?
With eyes portraying stories of abandonment
A dismissal gesture of right hand persuades ‘Carry on'
This angel, alone, like an exquisite present

There is no denying my powerful affinity
What do I need for you to acknowledge my love?
Next year will be our first renowned anniversary
An adequate anchorage handled with white gloves

Full access to my compassionate heart, just so perfect
Please, take a chance as we sing one and the same song
This chapter will for now be bookmarked, yet later again checked
Still, with firm headshake, at vain courtship, you state ‘It's all wrong'

These bleak adapted imperfections, where did they come from?
Even a pessimist would have an upper hand
True love is something that ignites, then you let it succumb
Unlike this poignant experience you demand

Absolute perfection is a sensory overload
Human flawlessness should not deceive, nor betray
Cherish what you have, as love, like an open road,
Needs to be romanticized each and every day
