Hunger Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Hunger

Every second,
Of those minutes lived.
Producing hours,
Days, months and years.
So many spend their time,
Convinced.
Perceiving to believe,
A feeding on power...
To crave it with a hunger,
Will put their minds at ease.

Encouraged they are this nourishes.
And done to flourish peace.
Yet...
Nowhere has this hunger proven,
A ceasing of division.
Or racial conflicts.
Shown heating to increase.

And...
Left to leave,
Mentalities diseasing.
Every second.
Of every hour.
This hunger for power,
Has devoured peace.

Depleting.
To defeat.
The quality of life.
And the sight of its diversity.
As if determined to bankrupt,
All that represents...
Humanity.
And...
The healthy normalcy,
Of its withering away presence!
Left starving.
For a reflection of its presentation,
To return again and it to live.
Restored.
Never to ignore the benefits of it!

Pray.
For the return of this nourishment.
Pray.
And stay enouraged,
This power to hunger...
For life to live as God intended.
Returns to minds and ends conflicts.
