I Am Black Poem by Quincy Moses

I Am Black

I am misjudged, misinterpreted
Associated with evil
Met with hatred
I am black

Judged by my skin color
Scared that I might be the next hashtag
Why?
I am black

The white man did all these
To hide my greatness-
knowing that I am a king
They became paranoid
knowing I could sing

Anger flushed from their skin
Knowing I could write
Hatred pinned on their chest
Knowing I could speak

Bitten, chewed and spat out by the system
Just because I am black
