I Have Risen Poem by Eric Cockrell

I Have Risen

Rating: 5.0

I have risen...
The fallen leaf
Has become the tree!
The tear, a shout of joy.
The hand, a heart revealed.
The prayer, a sweat stained
Body.
The body, an unnamed star.
The silence, a bridge,
A mountain.
The hunger, an open door.
The grave, the birth of
Wings!

I like the way the first and last two lines encapsulate this poem, 'I have risen...' contrasted with a 'The fallen leaf' and the wonderful 'The grave, the birth of Wings! ' is a compelling transcendence, I love the way a few lines speak volumes
