I Have Something To Say Poem by Paula Glynn

I Have Something To Say

I have something to say to you,
I just need to make my own choices,
I have to follow my own path,
And make my own mistakes,
I don't need mess or trouble,
I just need to catch that train,
And focus all my energy to retrain,
I need to be as sharp as a knife,
I need to be free of pain, struggle and strife,
And just need to get on with my life,
As I use my brain,
And do things right, so I stay completely sane,
In this hardship known as life,
But I don't want to be mixed up or confused,
Like some other people: those people are blind,
They do not know where they are going,
Who they are going to talk to,
Or how to steer their life in the right direction,
And while they may need protection,
I do not and I appreciate it for you to know that,
I follow my own path across the world,
I trust my instincts and gut reactions,
And I feel I am becoming the person I want to be,
And I know I have found the key,
To the wonderful existence known as life,
For DNA is a miracle and people are amazing,
And there is so much colour in the world,
That I have to celebrate and see everything,
And enjoy today for all it's worth,
This soul as rich as pure gold,
So I have something to say:
I treat my life as a gift,
And never accept fools gold.
