I Have To Have A Holiday Poem by Charles M Moore

I Have To Have A Holiday

I have to have a holiday
I need to have a break
the housework and the gardening
are making my neck ache
and as for painting ceilings
and working on the cars
a holiday seems just the thing
to stop me going mad

So tell my friends I'll miss them
when you go down the pub
and say hello to those I know
up at the bingo club
it won't be long till I return
so don't you fret or fear
I've got to get away from it
at least once in the year.

at least you know when to go else all going will be gone and the padded room decorated in huge flowers without scent shall be yours forever a fine poem
