I'Ll Never Know Poem by Stanley Cooper

I'Ll Never Know

Rating: 5.0

My father had the right idea
Whenever he would scold me
“I’ll tell you when I’m wrong”, he said
But, alas, he never told me

Could it be he was misguided
And didn’t see the light
“I’ll tell you when I’m wrong”, he said
But, alas, he was always right

There I was, so very young
Not feeling quite sublime
I wondered what was wrong with me
Being wrong most all the time

He’s been gone so many years
I miss his scolding so
Whether he was right or wrong
I’ll never ever know

Reminds me of the relationship I had with my father! I wish he was still alive so I can ask him how he saw life from his perspective! funny...i never thought of my Dad as being right or wrong...I had just better listen to what he said. And pretend I agreed! Nice write. LSP
