I Need A Holiday Poem by Charles M Moore

I Need A Holiday

Come let's fly away love
we'll hit the road today love
let's have a break, and get in shape
let's have a holiday
to break monotony

Sun drenched tropicanas
Las palmas or Bahamas
sit in the park
and watch the quacks
let's have a holiday
to break monotony

When I put down the school books
the teacher said to me 'Look,
Do something constructive
don't just waste your life away
it's the only way life pays'

I went and joined the dole queues
they told me that I must do
any job they had on file
that maybe come my way
so I joined the bakery

My job's boring
I can't help moaning
but my job's boring
and I need a holiday

Mixing dough up
would make you throw up
and putting jelly fruits on cakes
to me is just a waste
people throw the things away
I need a holiday.
