I sit here quietly in my thinking den,
Armed only with paper and a good pen.
When a thought enters my clear mind,
An idea to shape and to be refined.
I jot it down on smooth parchment,
Sketch roughly a brief broad outline.
Then suddenly all my creativity flows,
A new poem now completed by my design.
A perfect depiction of one way that poets receive their poems. There are many ways- - Outright inspiration where the poem writes itself, Working with an idea or a theme, Something that you heard or saw that triggers a poem- - - There is no 'right way' to write a poem. But we all have experienced one or more of these scenarios. Thank you for sharing this poem with us, Shaun! : -)
