I Wish I Knew That Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

I Wish I Knew That

Rating: 5.0

You didn't want to hurt my feelings,
By being specific and direct?
Well,
Let me say 'this' about 'that'.
With my own assessment,
You may or may not have been able to detect.

My feelings have been already crushed,
By your deceptions.
And whether accepted or not,
Those are the facts.
With no exceptions.

'I wish I knew.
I wish I knew that.'

I'm glad you didn't!

'Why?
Why not? '

If you had been honest with yourself,
I would have known and met someone else.
And from my perspective...
At least I know now,
Whoever you are or could to me have been...
Would not have earned my trust.
Since...
Someone who lies never knows when to end them.
