If Poem by Jaya Das

If

Rating: 5.0

If love is a dream,
Why are we seeking it?

If illusion is a trap,
Why are we chasing it?

If happiness comes in sorrow's disguise,
Why are we coveting it?

If contentment lies in soul's mirth,
Why are we running from it?

If nothing exists in reality,
Why are we living for it?

Hi Jaya, A very poignant series of philosophical questions... Hindu philosophy, rather... The same intriguing question was asked by Dharmaputra, why men run after happiness, knowing well that death is certain and its time unpredictable? Jaya, I have to give you the same answer that Dharmadev gave him. Or, shall we say, it is the basic instinct of life, basic instinct for survival, the basic quality of NATURE, The Prakriti. Fantastic poem...
