(for Annelize)
If I could catch the sun for you
I would have hanged it as a necklace around your neck,
if I could pick the blue sky for you
it would tell of my great longing
where I do remember your summer-laughter,
your smile that unfolds like stars,
how pretty you were and still are
but maybe I am still clinging to the past,
do try to cage in the things of years ago
but I cannot lure the summer-days back of long ago,
still less grab stars for you from the universe
and these are only words that I do hammer out
to say again and again to you
that my love for you still does lie deep.
