If I Were the Wind

If I were the wind,
I'd fly to the spring
To green the fields and plains,
To get flowers into bloom,
And sleep soundly in the scents.
If I were the wind,
I'd blow and blow,
Blowing my love to his heart's abode.
If I were the wind,
I'd fly to the sea
To wake up the morning sun,
where the waves tease singing,
singing at the break of day.
If I were the wind,
I'd blow and blow,
Blowing my love to his heart's abode.
If I were the wind,
I'd fly and fly,
Till on his shoulders I alight.
If I were the wind,
I'd blow and blow,
Blowing my love to his heart's abode.
He is my spring,
He is my distant sea,
He is the reason I wish to be
I were the very wind.
