If It's From The Wanting Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

If It's From The Wanting

If it's from the wanting,
I am here.
And more than thrilled to fulfill,
That need to be believed.
With a devoting to what it takes,
To eliminate that felt vacancy.

If it is from a wanting for someone,
Listening to commit undivided attention...
With a decided intention,
To bring a smile to your lips and eyes...
Never to abandon the dance of life,
We start to begin with a rhythm dependable.
I am here to defend your happiness.

I know what it means,
To no longer suspect but accept love...
Given freely to receive.
I've already spent time sighing,
On that blind side of rejection.
Stopping to reflect upon,
An emptiness to protect a hurt.
Unable to let go,
Of a pretense I was incapable to experience...
Love to feel it shown and meant.
I've been on that side to deny,
Privately I wept.
Sobbing like a child until I slept.
Knowing I had been expected to express love,
To another who expressed none to me.
Before they up and left.
As I found it difficult to catch my breath.

I've been where you are,
To recognize quickly...
Who it is I am and not again to be.
Knowing what I want too.
I am not that fool I could not see.
So,
If it's from the wanting to leave...
Suspicions behind not to repeat,
I will let it be known to you now...
No risks do I take based upon wishes.
I see what it is you seek and want.
And with me you will never be deceived.
Use and trust your intuition.
Use it as I do to keep believed.
