Iillowa Today Poem by Francis Duggan

Iillowa Today

It rained overnight the morning sky was gray
But the sun it is shining in Illowa today
Nature at her finest she is to be seen
And the paddocks are looking so lush and so green
The breeding frogs singing in every pond and drain
And on nutritious young grass the cattle weight does gain
White butterflies dancing in the coastal breeze
That is gently soughing in the leaves of the sunlit trees
The songs of the blackbirds so pleasant to hear
And the birds who do sing every day of the year
The white backed silver billed magpies with the warbling song
Once seen and once heard one can never again get them wrong
Nature at her very finest is all around me
And so lovely to hear the song of the pee wee.
