I'm Not A Criminal Poem by Paula Glynn

I'm Not A Criminal

No matter how much I hate you
I am not a criminal.
No matter how much I despise you
I am not a criminal.
No matter how much I loathe you
I am not a criminal.

I am not the Kingpin of Hell's Kitchen
I am not the leader of the mafia
I am not the evil Bronx gangster
That beats and murders common people
And deals illegal drugs that result in prison
Robbing people of their safe livelihood.

I am not a soul crushing narcissist
I am not a serious sociopath
I am not a hellbent on revenge psychopath
I am not a purposeful and scheming criminal
I am not a vicious and sly school bully
I am not a selfish and cruel child abuser

I pay my way in the world
I make fair trade online and in real life
I know the rules and the social system
I know how to navigate the social system
I know how to get from A to B
I know to not think negatively but positively.

I safeguard the law and the rules
Society abides by every day of my life
Rules that keep the social system safe
And fair for everyone
Because being a criminal doesn't pay
And I simply refuse to live that way.
