Impressions To Make Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Impressions To Make

Loving to do what one does,
Comes from a feeling that is not faked.
Nor is it done,
For impressions to make.
And often it takes faith.
To overcome moments of heartbreak.
That comes to one,
With this kind of love.
To know it real to feel.
Love like this,
Can be compared to remaining faithful.
After marriage vows had taken place.
And tears are witnessed,
Seen pouring down one's face.

Imitators come and go.
This kind of love they will never know.
Folks like this,
Perceive it is easy to achieve...
An end result they only see.
Without feeling the agony,
Of what love does to put one through.
While remaining faithful and devoted.
Imitators must ultimately confess,
It had been the attention wanted.
And not the stress.
With it assumed success and notoriety to get.
They expected.
Had nothing to do with love to invest.
Or have that felt to connect.
To discover,
Imitating will leave them...
Not only wishing to achieve success.
But also a love to feel,
Whether others should notice it or not.
