In Front Of Us

I knew him,
He too knew me,
But we miserably failed
To know ourselves
In the most important time,
As we stretched our eyes,
We found
A dark and desolate world
Waiting to engulf us,
We lamented,
But nothing fruitful happened,
A harsh shadow laughed at us
And the world seemed darker
In front of us.
