In Love With Own Self Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

In Love With Own Self

Rating: 5.0

Self as his sole focus,
And his name, Narcissus,
Man from ancient Pompeii,
He was one and only,
But today, one of two among us!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Well, Narcissus was only one of a kind and a rarity then. But today, it seems we have so many narcissists amidst us: my estimate, every one of two (the selfie culture, self the sole focus, selfishness of most, proving the point) !

Yes, you are right, Aniruddha. We all are self centered. Narcissus represents a very common human tendency or weakness. Nicely taken up. Thanks.
