In The Hands Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

In The Hands

Rating: 5.0

On a Saturday afternoon
With the heroin-induced voice of
Billie Holiday on the stereo
I slept as my breaking heart beat
Listened to hers
She knew about heartache
Brewing the blues with addiction
I never saw a picture of her smiling
And those eyes empty of expression
Made me wonder if she was loved
Would she stop doing smack?
We'll never know
But one thing is for sure
I'll try to find happiness
In the hands of G-d
