In The Pursuit Of 'Things' Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

In The Pursuit Of 'Things'

My faith and trust,
One placed in others...
Has begun to fade away.
With a keeping of a few...
I know to be honest and true.
That they are.
And from me to them I am too!
So my circle of contacts...
Are limited to those,
I know are of truth!

Many who have decided,
Their lives should be spent...
In the pursuit of 'things',
That have hollow content...
From me will get no argument.
And from me they receive,
My respectful distance...
With an absence meant!
That is free of thought or feeling,
Of resentment.
