In This Party Poem by Kewayne Wadley

In This Party

In this party, my heart beats for you
A rhythm that only you & I can feel.
My eyes follow your every move
The only one that I see.

My hands ache to touch you
To hold you close and never let go.
The same rhythm that's reached out
& grabbed you by the hand
Not wanting to let go.

The music is loud, but my heart blasts louder
In celebration of how good you feel
wrapped in my arms
How you wind your waist & press
Your back against my jeans.
Whatever shyness that arrived,
tied to a balloon against the wall.

In this time that we've spent together
I've married you and used this same song
at our reception.
You've kissed me and set off over a million balloons
with nowhere to go.

In this party, you've lit up the room
as if it was meant for you
This party the beginning of something new,
A part of us I'll remember forever.
The beginning of you & I
In this party, my heart beats for you
And only you
