Inside The Candy Store Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Inside The Candy Store

From the outside,
Everything inside...
The candy store.
Looks delicious and sweet.
Yet the makers of the candy,
Are evil doers and quick to deceive.
Those invited in.
And spend their time,
Gobbling up treats and sweetness to get.
Often leave grieving.
From a sickness many disbelieve.

Adorned with glitter.
Through Windows people peek.
With wishes just to sample,
Close as possible...
To lick and nibble,
On fantastic created treats.
As the 'Candy Maker and Chief',
Entertains gleefully.

But no one has the ability,
From where they stand outside to see.
Behind the scenes,
A dentist hired.
Who is also a hypnotist.
Replacing teeth of those victimized.
Leaving with wide faked smiles.
But their eyes can not disguise,
A grief to disbelieve.

And for whatever the reason,
This attracts a crowd.
Wanting for themselves to experience,
Their own decay.
