Insistence Poem by Freeyad Ibrahim

Insistence

by Freeyad Ibrahim

Less moaning would give me some assistance
Without moaning I'd get no existence
I said loving is the sweetest but close to you
She said loving is the sweetest at a distance
I said being away from you makes me mad
She said be mad, but without your insistence
How sweet it could be to hug you, beloved, tight
Sweeter yet is to get you with no resistance
It is not easy to hunt a lover without fatigue
To reach a flower there are thorns in consequence
You cannot be separated from my existence
Inseparable coherent coexistence
I will try, despite my despair, to arrive
From nearby or faraway, in a distance
Look at the thin but firm rope, for instance
Moving repeatedly on the solid unbreakable rock
leaves a visible mark on it in persistence
