Intensity Of Her Eyes Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Intensity Of Her Eyes

Rating: 5.0

Hypnotic drinks
And spellbound until dawn,
I’ve seen cities linger
In a moonlight haze.

Yesterday,
I was preoccupied
With mythical dreams
And exaggerated concepts
Of romantic defeat.

I have no explanations
For vanishing friends
Or inconclusive rendezvous,
No explanations
For when life
Comes to an end.

Confirming her words
By the intensity of her eyes,
Remarkable conversations
Float through the ether of eternity.

I don’t avoid priests
But my confessions
Have been in darkness
And about darkness.

Most of my acquaintances
Have been nowhere people
Existing in the landscape
Of temporary purpose,
But our feelings have been
Mutual and meaningful.

I’ve practiced
Mindfulness in meditation,
I’ve recited prayers
Before the homeless
And the extravagantly rich,
And it is hard to say
If either were impressed.

I’ve had a fascination
With ancient philosophical codes,
I’ve journeyed the highway
Of directionless destiny,
I’ve told girls
I was in love,
But I often feel
Like I’m experiencing
Mayan-like extinction of soul.

No one has taught me
Calibrated responses to love
In this scientific age
Of the emotions.

I’m discovering the phrases
To a lost sutra
Written in the sand
Protecting the heart
From any residue of insensitivity.

You give yourself away in words without reservation. And the result is memorable poetry. Write on, by all means. Warm regards, Sandra
