Into The Rose Poem by Heather Z. Hanna

Into The Rose

How did you get to me?
I wasn't looking. There was no need.
So what is happening inside of me?
It's my fault I suppose.
I let myself look at a rose.
It's color drew me in.
I smelled it's scent.
My Heart was taken
And in I went.
Amoung the petals
Silky soft.
The rich, rich color
Held the rose aloft.
And the indescribable
Perfume
So silently
Filled my head.
My mind went numb
In a pleasurable
Vibrance.
My Heart went dumb
With frightening
Silence.
No warning was given
To heed, to help.
To keep me away
From my tortuous self.
I tremble and weep,
Then fly so high
With laughter and chills.
In awe do I feel
An incredible thrill.
So why did it happen?
And when will it go?
Or is it mine forever to keep?
It is too soon to know.
So as the days travel
So too, does my Heart.
Hoping to keep you
Forever...
...Never to part.
Locked in my conscious,
Flowing through veins,
Coursing in cells,
Leave not again.
For a rose cannot stay,
The petals do fall.
It's essence will fade
But a memory is all.
Yet, all that I need
To carry me along
Is a memory bright
In my Heart, your song.
