Emma Raducanu: A Short Story poem
(it really occurred last 11 Sep 2021 in New York)
let me introduce to you
Emma Raducanu
English unknown resident
deserves now myriad compliments
starting with qualifier's rounds
before she may play in the main stadium
she has to win first these pré-rounds
the greatest moment
to watch this natural talent
reaching the final of the US Open
she was asked in one of the interviews
are you nervous hearing all this news?
she replied with sober intelligence:
how can I?
I am a debutant
my nerves are still latent
After the final
she has done her duty
to win Flushing Meadows with its commodity
the first Grandslam final in straight sets,
pardon, all the pre-rounds
and head-rounds she did in straight sets
all rounds from the very pre-round start
Emma Raducanu is the first tennis player
who has won as debutant
with great easiness Flushing Meadows
her opponent is Leylah Fernandez
Canadian yesterday she became 19 years
while Emma Raducanu is still 18 years,
next 13 November will be her Birthday
Most unique is
two teenagers played the grand slam final,
since 1999 is that no more the case
Mrs. Wade was the last Flushing Meadows winner from England,
That was in 1977, and now Emma Raducanu in 2021
seen all she had done
and that for a debutant
she ought to be placed in
the Guinness Records Book
She most deserves that!
