Someone failed to
realize that
a body at rest
perfectly still
remains lovelier
more gorgeous
than
one marred
by kinetics
Like most of the others, I had to google Ron Jeremy and I am now enlightened. Other than academia, I simply was unable to imagine the apple man doing what Ron does best without bursting out in laughter. This is priceless. Thanks Mj
Thank you, Loke! I remember how much I laughed when I came across that poster. And now you actually have me thinking of Jeremy as 'The Apple Man....
I had to google Ron Jeremy too and now laughing. I was surprised to read that he is a qualified teacher and was a substitute teacher for special needs children :)
Hi Simon, Thanks so much! I think you came across one of my inside jokes...Yes, with academia in common, Issac and Ron may have shared...well, a lot in common....
M.J., you continue to amaze me with all the different ideas for your poems. And to infuse them with both brilliance and humour! It's extraordinarily majestic! I googled Ron Jeremy. And I burst into so much laughter that I nearly fell out of my chair. Not only did I get more than I bargained for in his bio, but there were pics of him. And what an uncanny resemblance to Sir Isaac! Keep these poems coming (get it) and I might be the 1st poet on PH to die from laughter. You crack me up with the humour. And stimulate my mind with the profundity. Thanks for both.10 x..........................................
And thank you so much, Richard! Yes, I was thinking about that uncanny resemblance. Were Ron to shave his mustache, he could star in a bio of Newton. I wonder if that person who scrawled the graffiti might have had the same thought? Or was he aware of Newton's love life....which makes for another dose of humour. Again, thanks so much, Richard.
Tis my day to get a bigger education- -didn't know who Ron Jeremy was so I asked Ask who seemed delighted to tell me more than I really needed to know... but now I get a wee glimmer of understanding about your inspiration. WoW! ! ! There is nothing that escapes your writer's eye, is there? That is the basic ingredient in all great writers- - there is nothing that isn't grist for the mill! ! ! Nothing is stagnant loss for you! ! ! ! It is all part of life and as such can be turned to gain! As far as the poem itself- - - -Awesome in its intelligence and in its poetic structure and in its sense of humor. 10++++++++++++++++++++
Susan, Thank you so very much. And yes, I do at times like to focus on the big messages that can be found in those tiny details. It was a long time ago, at a conference, that I remember hearing a writer say that an entire universe existed on his block when he was young, growing up. There must have been something in that message that stayed with me. Thank you so very much. Mj PS....yes, I think the humour factor does multiply when one realizes who Ron was/is.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
Yes, a body at rest looks more gorgeous! But being in a still position cannot be recommended all the time! Movement is a sign of life and stillness can denote death even! Pithy write!
Thank you so much, Valsa. No motion indeed=no time....observed Isaac Newton. Thanks again.
