Isn't The Drunkard more Alert? Poem by Nabakishore Dash

Isn't The Drunkard more Alert?

Rating: 5.0

A man in highly inebriated
condition started from the
bar with a bottle
in the grip of his palm.
Walked straight on
the pavement,
reached the crossing
of the main road,
apparently looked very calm.
Suddenly shouted loudly,
looked to his left and right
for speeding cars and bikes.
Looked over head
into the sky if any
drone and plane are flying.
Fixed his gaze down
to assure if there is any hidden bomb,
looked back to be sure
that no kidnapper follows.
Held his bottle tight,
walked zigzag perhaps
to baffle the man who might
target him with bullets
and crossed the road
free from any maim.
Is he not more alert than
the ordinary guy
who crossed the road
without harm?
