It's Never Me Poem by Ima Ryma

It's Never Me

It's never me so far in life
That's suffered because of my race.
I've been spared that struggle and strife
Of others in same time and place.
It's never me condemned as fraud
For the religion I believe,
For how I choose to pray to God,
Persecution I don't receive.
It's never me the victim of
Discrimination because I
Have chosen the same sex to love.
I've not been forced to answer why.

Lucky so far, it's never me,
But know sometime that it could be.
