I've Wasted Years Of My Life On You Poem by Mark Heathcote

I've Wasted Years Of My Life On You

I've wasted years of my life on you.
I've been to the end of the road with you and hung around.
I've done all I can for you.
But all you do is run away.
Make excuses; make it all my fault.
How could I have been such a dote a fool?

Darling, how have I wasted my years?
Darling, how have I wasted the sun and the moonlight?
Darling, how have I wasted the harmony and thunder in my life?
Darling, how have I wasted an answered prayer?
Darling, I wouldn't change a second.
If I spent a lifetime watching
The gold of your hair turns silver everywhere.

You've wasted years of your life on me.
I disagree
We argue oh, nearly every day.
But darling I wouldn't have it any other way.
You've been to the road end.
But mine, I pray, is a roundabout looking into your blue eyes.
Yes, you've done all you can; I can't complain, amen!
But please, darling, let me be suspended in heaven this again.
Let me be suspended dancing in your arms, enchanted
In your sharp barbs and charms.
