Joyful Forgiving Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Joyful Forgiving

It's the season of joyful forgiving.
And the temporary forgetting,
Of the expense of it to pay.
To keep remembered after the holidays pass.
With this to ask oneself,
"Dear God...
Is it possible that I could stay,
In a joyful forgiving mood...
Throughout the Spring, Summer and Autumn too? !
Done to ignore those that got on my last nerve.
To know I too,
May be overdue...
For an attitude adjustment.

And God...
Help me be more polite,
To the ones You and I both know...
Are habitual liars.
Even though at times I do wonder why,
I find myself attracted to their delusions.
And their creative lies.
Only You, Most High...
Understand better than I can,
Were given to them as 'gifts'.

Would I have done this?
If I had been in Your position?
No!
Amen."
