Just Want To Thank You Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Just Want To Thank You

I just want to thank You.
For lettin' me,
Be who it is...
I am.
While You can.

I said I just want to thank You.
For lettin' me,
Be who it is...
I am.
While You can.

Months ago a plaguing virus,
Came upon our shores ignored.
Nobody thought it would keep us,
Kept from each other like before.

Now with a 'social distance',
Said from others to stay.
Busy nosey people are nowhere,
And I love it kept that way.

I want to thank You.
For lettin' me,
Be who it is...
I am.
While You can.

OH LORD!

I said I just want to thank You.
For lettin' me,
Be who it is...
I am.
While You can.
I know Your tasks are grand!

I imagine how much it strains,
To keep those nosey to themselves.
With less gossip to be whispered.
Heard from everybody else.
And wearing those masks in public,
No one can't tell who's who.
Or find somebody who cares,
To spread their lies to do.

I want to thank You, LORD.
For lettin' me,
Be who it is I am...
While YOU can.
And,
For this I'm grateful.

Thank You.
For lettin' me,
Be who it is I am...
As if planned.
To make folks understand.

These are times to get serious.
With a letting go of pettiness kept.
Nobody wants to hear that mess.
Or innuendos made to pass around,
Like gold on the ground to be found.

Ooohhh!
Thank You,
For lettin' me...
Be who it is I am.
Again.

OH LORD!

I...
Thank You Thank You Thank You.
I...
Thank You Thank You.
LORD I...
Thank You Thank You Thank You.
LORD I...
Thank You!
