Keep Sake Poem by Rebecca Navarre

Keep Sake

Rating: 5.0

The last days of fall, and a mighty
oak stands, looking so bare and tall.
The last leaf holding on so tight.
Clinging with all of it's might. Clinging
as if it knows, it's fighting for it's life.
Against the harsh wind, against the
cold, against the inevitable. Till finally,
it let's go. Falling and falling and then
tumbling along, feeling alone and lost.
Recalling how all it's friends, surrendered
to the frost. When suddenly a child picks
it up and says Mommy look, and the mother
says how beautiful, let's keep it and press it
in a book.

My my! This poem struck me with its profound beauty, and made me so happy to read! What a wonderful piece! The rhymes flow in rhythm and the story is at first tragic, even desperate, and it ends gladly! Thank you so much for sharing this marvelous piece!
