Kept Questioned Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Kept Questioned

Why is the obvious,
Repeatedly kept questioned?
And inability to face the truth,
Free from fiction to delude it.
Is the only way,
To reach reality.
Making it a destination.
Not to visit but to stay there!

'Why do we continue,
To inflict upon ourselves...
Such anguish.
Pain and unrelenting sorrow? '

'Good question.
It certainly could not,
Have anything to do...
With our love for conflict.
Racism, division.
Corruption, fraud.
And greedy thieving to feast,
Politicians.
It can not be,
Our Selfishness and hypocrisy.
Deception.
Or evil misdeeds done,
To one another.
With lies told.
And ongoing excuses made.'

'That's why,
It is difficult for me...
To comprehend.
And understand,
What is going on.
What is happening...
To our quality of life! '

'You got me.
I wish I had that answer.'
