I see in your eyes
What I had once lost...
And now... I just cry
Reading this I think of what we lose as we grow older. It's not so much the youth but the simple wonder, the hopes and simple joys in life. Losing childlike wonder is the pain of Adulthood. Bravo Richard as always the greatness is the words directness!
Kevin, you've so perfectly captured the essence of the poem and the loss of childlike wonder as we get older. Gerard's childlike wonder and heavenly visions was the epitome of all that was Jack Kerouac.

Sometimes other people are our mirrors in life. We are transported to our past through them. A deeply poignant and touching succinct poem.Brilliantly expressed.
2) A very grateful heart to you, Rose Marie for your insightful and very positive comments!
Gerard was a crystal clear mirror for Jack. Through that vehicle, Jack was being transported back in time...and into the future.
