Kindness (A Response To Sandra Feldman) Poem by ER Bron Chiong, RSW

As a person who claimed to be a poetess
cultured and of fine breeding
be sensitive to the feelings of others
remember to provide kindness and
mutual respect to people who are distinct
from your own perceived superiority
this is the kind of love we need today
not your bias and filthy opinion
of an egotism ethnocentric view
such mentally deranged individual
led to murder thousands of Jewish people
during the Second World War

As the Bible and its good masters taught us
love should be the basis and not
prejudice, hate and discrimination--
if you ever do that, you're the worst of all people
a racist or bigot that deserve death penalty of old
so your tribe will not increase in this diverse world
as a guilty snob, be human by asking apology
to people of dif'rent cultural tradition and ethno-linguistic group
you insulted us as barbaric and not to be accepted
as a unique people group of this vast world

God has designed varied languages to prosper
and who are you to judge that this is not acceptable
why did the scholars of Summer Institute of Linguistics
accepted Chavacano as a language and even took time
to translate the New Testament into that unique language
How dare you Miss, to insult us with such harsh words

I wrote this in English so that you can understand better
and learn from your inappropriate action dear woman
I pity you for such an attitude of grave prejudice
Inhumane and insane—that causes conflict in our world today
I was just expressing my love in the language I was raised
Don't my people deserve to be appreciated and accepted
It's the gravest insult to God and the people he created
by not respecting our rights to express and be heard

What the world need is kindness, love, respect
and not hate as you try to stimulate
peace, unity and cooperation together with
mutual trust and acceptance of each other differences
will finally make our world a much better place to live
follow the masters' footsteps and change the world
with love not hate, bitterness and self-centeredness
God gave you the talents and skills to make an impact
in this crazy world not to create further divisions
or isolations of that sort is enough, lady
Be real and not act as an extreme hypocrite idiot
