Beneath the cold frigid January earth
Now covered with a dusting of snow
New life stirs, slowly awakens and,
Gently nourished by a faint warming sun,
Begins its upward climb. Its beauty waiting
To be discovered after a cold, dark damp
Bleak winter.
The Snowdrop, or milk flower, known and
Admired for thousands of years for its simple
Beauty. As beautiful as Aphrodite, or the simple
Smile of the Mona Lisa, or the kiss of a gentle
Breeze on a warm summers night. Slowly emerges
From the earth, the first to welcome the coming
Of spring. Natures blessing to start a New Year.
A beautiful poem nicely penned. It captures the beauty of nature.10
Thank you Rose Marie, we've had a cold winter here and I look forward to the snowdrops breaking out.

I only had the privilege to witness two winters, and never had the opportunity to see the Snowdrop described so beautifully in your poem, thanks David for making it come alive to me.
